Though the fourth season of the TV anime Teekyu just began broadcasting this month, season 5 has already been confirmed. With the theme song announced so early as well, developments are coming fast.

The theme song for season 5 has been confirmed to be “Qunka!” and it will be sung by Kana Hanazawa. With support from this popular artist, it seems the series’ will continue to be popular.

Teekyu is a manga currently serializing in Comic Earth Star that is described as a “super high tension gag comedy manga.” The series is authored and created by Roots along with illustrator Piyo. Its serialization began in February 2012, and nine volumes have been published to date. The first season of the TV anime was broadcast from October to December 2012. Though the title is a play on the Japanese word for tennis, the series has gained popularity through its novelty of the characters not actually playing tennis.

Directing the anime is Shin Itagaki who also directed Devil May Cry and Ben-to. The cast includes Yui Watanabe as Yuri Oshimoto, Suzuko Mimori as Kanae Shinjo, and Kyoko Narumi as Nasuno Takamiya. Kana Hanazawa is also an active member of the cast as Marimo Bando.

Similarly to the season 4 theme song “Fatto Shite Tougenkyo” and the Takamiya Nasuno Desu! theme song “Kogane no Kinderella ~Gozen 0-ji ni Mahou wa Hodokezu~”, “Qunka!” will be released on Wednesday, May 27. It will be a busy day for Kana Hanazawa.

Teekyu has also been confirmed as an official sponsor of the event “Kana Hanazawa Live 2015: Blue Avenue” to be held in May. Including Nippon Budokan, this highly hyped concert will tour across Japan. Being the official sponsor, Teekyu merchandise will also be for sale at the concert venues.

It seems this popular series that has continued for five seasons including a spin-off will become an even bigger hit, with a popularity that can be felt. Look forward to more new news to come for the currently broadcasting season 4 and the upcoming season 5.
