Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block will air two talked-about films this fall. Codenamed Project Itoh, this second round of Noitamina movies includes anime film adaptations of two works by the late sci-fi writer Keikaku Itoh: Genocidal Organ and Harmony.
New key visuals for both have been released at this time. The illustrations were created just for the occasion by original character designer redjuice. Each of the new visuals shows the main character for that respective film - Clavis Shepherd of Genocidal Organ and Toan Kirie of Harmony. The artwork of Clavis is black, while the artwork of Toan is white, and each has been finished to drum up anticipation for their respective releases.
A Project Itoh supplement is included in the April 10 issue of Newtype magazine (published by Kadokawa) that thoroughly explains the project. The May issue of Newtype also comes with a deluxe poster that makes use of the specially drawn artwork released. The first serialization of the comic versions of both Genocidal Organ and Harmony based on the story and settings of each anime are also published in the Newtype supplement. Also included are must-read interviews that shine light little by little on the full story behind Project Itoh.
Project Itoh is a project for creating three anime film adaptations based on original full-length novels by late novelist Keikaku Itoh who passed away at the age of 34 in 2009: Genocidal Organ, Harmony, and The Empire of Corpses, which is being written by author Toh EnJoe, winner of the Akutagawa Prize, based on a 30-page preface left behind by Itoh.
The staff is different for each of the three works, with Shuko Murase directing Genocidal Organ, Takashi Nakamura and Michael Arias directing Harmony, and Ryotaro Makihara directing The Empire of Corpses. Redjuice is in charge of original character designs on all three films.
