It was previously announced that the original animation film Vitreous Flower Destroys the World would release in 2015. And it seems that, finally, the project has started in earnest. In the afternoon of March 8, the official website was completely updated, and information about the project has begun to become available. The film is also beginning to make use of its official Twitter.
Moreover, the first PV for the film was made public at the same time. For a duration of approximately 30 seconds, classical music plays in the background while some impression-making statements appear on screen. And then, there is a short narration in an attention-grabbing voice.
In a competition hosted by Pony Canyon in 2013, Vitreous Flower Destroys the World won first place to receive an anime film adaptation. The original work, called D.backup, was produced by the creative unit, Physics Point. The story caught the attention of the discerning eyes of the anime production company’s president and other top members.
Pony Canyon, the company that has published numerous anime, is responsible for the promotion of this large project. Meanwhile, the animation production is overseen by studio A-1 Pictures. Since A-1 Pictures is the same company that fully produced popular original animation films such as Sword Art Online, The Idolmaster, and more, there is no doubt there is high interest in and high expectations for the new project.
The director will be Masashi Ishihama, who worked on the film adaptation of the profound drama From the New World. The screenplay, on the other hand, will be by Fumihiko Shimo, who is well known for composing Air, Kanon, Clannad, and Amagi Brilliant Park. As both of these veterans excel in expressing the feelings of young boys and girls, Vitreous Flower Destroys the World is expected to have a great story.
Information about the character design was also released. Kantoku, known for his illustrations for The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat, will once again show off his talents in this latest film. Other staff members will be announced at a later time. Be sure to stay tuned to the latest developments.
