Marie Antoinette and Oscar: the two heroines of the manga The Rose of Versailles. Series author Riyoko Ikeda has announced one piece dresses that she supervised the creation of themed after these two characters.
In the Antoinette series (each one piece costs 10,500 yen plus tax) are dresses themed after moving from Austria to France to marry and spending the days indulging in every luxury at the Palace of Versailles.
“Farewell my motherland! Schönbrunn for eternity!” - this dress is themed after the dress she wore when she departed from Austria. “What a lovely bride!” - this dress is themed after the French-style dress she had to change into for the ceremony. “Now I’m...the Queen of Versailles” - this dress is themed after the one worn when she attends her first official event as the Queen of Versailles. “She smells just like the scent of spring!” - this dress is themed after the dress worn during Antoinette’s first visit to Paris. And “You’re amazing, Bertin!” is themed on, as fans know, the dress designed by clothing designer Bertin whom Antoinette adores. This series will also include a panier (5,900 yen plus tax).
The Oscar series (each one piece costs 10,500 yen plus tax) features two dresses: “One-night-only dress one piece - Oscar...you’re so lovely!” and “Revolution one piece - Let’s be heroes known throughout our motherland of France!”
The “one-night-only” dress differs greatly in mood from the dress in the original work, but it seems to be an homage to the corset scene. The dress uses the same navy color as Oscar’s Imperial Guard uniform. And it seems the “revolution one piece” is themed after Oscar’s Imperial Guard provisions.
These dresses went on sale by Felissimo, which is headquartered in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, on Feb. 17 on the web site Sukiyaki.
