“Wolf Girl and Black Prince” Slated for May 28 Release; Starring Fumi Nikaido, Kento Yamazaki

The release date for the Wolf Girl and Black Prince movie has been decided. The movie will have a Japan-wide roadshow release at Shinjuku Piccadilly and other theaters on May 28. In addition to this, a main visual that remakes a drawing from the manga has been released. The visual shows Erika Shinohara played by Fumi Nikaido and Kyoya Sata played by Kento Yamazaki in school uniforms.

In the new visual Fumi stands with her arms crossed in front of a blackboard along with Kento, who has a “Prince Charming” look. “wolf girl” and “black prince” are scrawled on the blackboard behind them as well, which express Erika as being in a fake relationship despite having zero experience in love and Kyoya’s two-facedness: appearing like a prince but acting like a sadist.

Nikaido is often seen wearing school uniforms in movies including Himizu and Why Don’t You Play in Hell?, among others, but she is playing the role of an everyday female high school student for the first time in Wolf Girl and Black Prince. She looks just like a high school student in her impressive red ribbon and miniskirt. Yamazaki’s look has changed completely and he debuts for the first time as a blonde. Take a look at the manga illustration side by side and you’ll be able to notice the spot-on reproduction.

Regarding the movie, Nikaido joyfully commented, “My co-star prince who’s themed after shojo manga is extremely captivating for being unique and cool, and the fastidiousness for someone that Erika has is captivating too—I’m so happy to be a part of the movie based on this manga.” Regarding his role, Yamazaki shared his fascination, saying, “It’s interesting that there’s a sadistic prince who treats the heroine like a dog, and even seen from a guy’s point of view he’s a cool character. He’s nothing like me (laughs).” “This is my first time having such bright hair, so it feels very fresh. My appearance is close to that of Kyoya’s in the manga, so I was all the more nervous. In addition to my appearance, I think you’ll be able to see a side of me you’ve never seen before,” he added in a comment about his character’s blonde hair.
