An anime adaptation of the popular Shokugeki no Soma currently serializing in Weekly Shonen Jump was announced in November, drawing huge attention in the process. New information on this anime was then revealed at a stage event for the series on Dec. 21 at Jump Festa 2015 held at Makuhari Messe. The first big bit of news concerns the TV broadcast schedule. The broadcast will begin in April 2015 for a short three-month run.
An anime PV was also produced for the announcement, and this was made available online at the same time it was released at Jump Festa. The PV magnificently depicts the series’ theme: delicious-looking food. On the other hand, it also has sexy scenes along with a Shokugeki no Soma-esque sheen. The creators of the animation are J.C. Staff. Members of the staff already announced include director Yoshitomo Yonetani, series composer Shogo Yasukawa, and character designer Tomoyuki Shitaya.
There is also new news about the music artists. In charge of the opening theme is the four-person rock band Ultra Tower. This up-and-coming group is fresh off their major debut, the mini album Taiyo to Tsuki no To released this August. A point of interest at the moment is what kind of music they will bring forth. In charge of the ending theme is Tokyo Karankoron. Because this is a group that has never done a tie-in with anime before, it’s a fresh endeavour. Song titles for both the opening and ending themes have yet to be announced.
Additional members of the cast have also been revealed. These are the students who attend the setting of the series, the prestigious Totsuki Culinary Academy. Natsuki Hanae is playing Takumi Aldini, heir to an Italian trattoria and older brother to twin Isami Aldini, being played by Yuki Ono. Also, Saori Onishi is playing Hisako Arato and Takahiro Sakurai is playing Satoshi Isshiki.
