Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon R, the 2nd season of the 1990s anime adaptation of Sailor Moon, is being made available on Blu-ray! This version will include 2 volumes.
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon R includes the Hell Tree arc from episode 47 to 59, and the Black Moon arc from episode 60 to 89. Vol. 1 of the Blu-ray will include the Hell Tree arc and will go on sale on Oct. 4, and vol. 2 will include the Black Moon arc and go on sale Dec. 6. Each will be 19,800 yen plus tax.
While the beginning of the anime follows the past of the Pretty Guardians and protagonist Tsukino Usagi, much of Sailor Moon R is centered around 30th century Crystal Tokyo. Many new characters appear, as well, including Sailor Pluto, Neo-Queen Serenity, and King Endymion!
Beginning with episode 60 there was also a switch of series directors from Sato Junichi to Ikuhara Kunihiko, giving fans the chance to enjoy new makeup and special move scenes.
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary with all sorts of new goods, a musical, and other developments, but now fans will get to enjoy its history in an all-new way! Hopefully, the rest of the anime will be made available on Blu-ray, as well!
