Pokémon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction and the short film Pikachu, What Kind of Keys Are These? will both release Japan-wide on July 19. On the same day, a large Pokémon event will begin in Roppongi Hills. In celebration of the movie’s release, the exhibit “Pokémon the Movie XY Exhibit - Let’s Meet Pikachu at the Roppongi Hills Sky Deck!” will take place in the Roppongi Hills Sky Deck/Tokyo City View. The exhibit will run from July 19 to Aug. 31 and is sure to have a large turnout due to families going on outings during the summer.
The “Pokémon the Movie Exhibit” will cover all the Pokémon movies in the series, from the first movie released in 1998 titled Pokémon: The First Movie to the most recent movie titled Pokémon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction. Fans will be able to enjoy the entire series from past to present all at one time. There will also be a collaboration with creator group Rhizomatiks, which is picking up attention for its videos that use cutting-edge technology.
In addition to this will be projects for fans to experience the world of the latest movie and to get a peek behind the scenes of the previous movies. It will be an exhibit that both kids and adults can enjoy. For the duration of the exhibit, there will be a Pokémon store called “Pokémon Center Branch in Pokemon the Movie XY Exhibit” and a Pikachu Cafe at which visitors can get original products and food items.
Ticket pricing is as follows: 1,500 yen for general tickets, 1,000 yen for high school and college students, and 500 yen for kids (4 years to middle school). Advance tickets cost 1,200 for general and 900 for high school and college students. The exhibit will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. More details on the exhibit will be revealed in early July.
Pokémon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction is the 17th movie in the Pokémon series. Participating on the movie are guest voice actors Kouichi Yamadera and Shoko Nakagawa, actress Yoshiko Mita, personality Rika Adachi, and comedy duo Nakagawake. Narrating the short film screening along with the movie, Pikachu, What Kind of Keys Are These?, is Mayu Watanabe from AKB48 who recently shined in first place in the group’s general election.
