Roman Album: Samurai Champloo Only Fanbook to Be Republished in Celebration of the Series’ 10th Anniversary

Visual Book Roman Album: Samurai Champloo, a fanbook to the series Samurai Champloo which broadcast in 2004, will be republished. It will release on Fukkan.com in May. Samurai Champloo is director Shinichiro Watanabe’s second anime, the first being Cowboy Bebop which has an enthusiastic fanbase in Japan and overseas. Visual Book Roman Album: Samurai Champloo, which is being republished to celebrate the series 10th anniversary, is the series’ only fanbook. Along with explanations of all 26 episodes, it also has explanations and analysis of the series from a broad perspective.

The book is an exhaustive look at the series that is comprised of a long interview with director Watanabe, a making-of documentary loaded with unknown episode details, artwork used during commercials, and more. Additionally, the book plays on the charm of the music, an area director Watanabe placed considerable importance on, with columns and artist introductions. Moreover, there are also introductions of all the characters from the series, which total over 100, each with explanations by character designer Kazuto Nakazawa. The book allows fans to take a peek at the show’s secrets.

Of course, the book also contains a great number of beautiful copyrighted illustrations that have graced the pages of anime magazine and DVD jackets. Other not-to-be-missed content includes a conversation between director Watanabe and composer Tsutchie, the return of Samurai-C Records, a temporary record shop set up for a limited time in the Logos Gallery, data on all the cast and staff, and more. Visual Book Roman Album: Samurai Champloo costs 3024 yen (tax included).

Director Watanebe’s and Nakazawa’s new TV anime Zankyō no Terror will begin broadcasting in July. Get ready by taking a look back at their 10-year-old masterpiece work.
