Comico Manga “ReLIFE” Hits 1 Million Copies in Print; Stage Play Confirmed

The manga ReLIFE from the digital manga and novel app Comico continues to become an even bigger hit. Already, an anime adaptation has been announced, and now a stage play is underway and translated versions of the manga are to be released overseas. Volume 5 of the manga has also been locked in for a Feb. 12 release date. With its release, the series is expected to break through 1 million copies in print.

ReLIFE is a youthful school drama currently serialized on Comico. Though series author Yayoiso is a newcomer, the series began serialization at the same time the Comico service launched. Since the first volume was released in August 2014, the number of copies in print has continued to grow due to the irregular story pacing used by Yayoiso.

Its momentum continues to charge full steam ahead, and a printing in French has been confirmed. It will be released by Ki-oon, a label of publisher AC Media which handles a great many Japanese manga. The French version of the manga will be available in bookstores France-wide beginning this May.

In other news, a stage play adaptation has also been slated for this fall. Save for performances to be held in Tokyo and Osaka, no details have yet been revealed, but new information will be released on Comico. ReLIFE is the first Comico work to be getting published overseas and turned into a stage show.

It was previously announced that the manga is getting an anime adaptation, and it’s now been announced that in charge of production is TMS Entertainment. Information on the cast and staff will be announced during a stage event to be held at Anime Japan 2016 in March. The castings for main character Arata Kaizaki and heroine Chizuru Hishiro will be announced in advance on Comico in time with the release of volume 5 of the manga. Things are finally starting to pick up for the anime in a big way.
