Pony Canyon, a large video and music software company, has advanced into the light novel market. On Dec. 3, six light novel series released all at once under the PoniCan Books label. One familiar work among them is the light novel version of Walkure Romanze (author: Akito HIkage, illustrator: Kazuya Kuroda), the TV anime to which is currently broadcasting. Each is a work set in a fantasy world that includes both young male and female characters. Their beautiful illustrations are also a charm.
Pony Canyon is known for selling the video versions of big hit anime including Attack on Titan and Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club as well as music. The company has a large presence in the world of anime and has worked on huge hits including the K-On! series. In recent years, it has become more deeply related to anime production and it has advanced into related industries. The book industry is one of these. Under its new publishing label PoniCan Books, the company will begin publishing anime fan books and seiyū photo collections in April 2014. As expected of Pony Canyon, they have a popular lineup that includes TV Animation Attack on Titan Art Collection and TV Anime Free! Official Fan Book.
Even within the publishing business, the light novel category continues to be promising. By advancing into the light novel market, Pony Canyon will put to full use the know-how it has cultivated from anime. New titles are scheduled to be released on the third day of every month. This year, the company will also begin a project called Animation Taishō for scouting new creators.
