And they all start to honestly talk about their feelings...
Rei goes to Samezuka Academy and shoves questions at Rin. Why is he still obsessed with participating in the relay even after beating Haruka, and what does he want from Haruka? Rei has come to enjoy swimming together with everyone as the Iwatobi High Swim Club, so he is having a hard time understanding why the others keep talking about Rin all the time. What does it take to satisfy Rin? After some grappling and quarreling, Rei says, “I just want to swim as a part of the best team,” and leaves.
The members of the Iwatobi Swim Club are worried for Rei, so they pay him a visit on Goro’s orders. They ask him why he went to see Rin, but all their doubts disappear when Haruka says, “The four of us are a team.”
Rin is training as if he was trying to get something out of his head, but Nitori tells him his swimming is in disarray. The team captain, Mikoshiba, mutters, “I don’t mind as long as he’s fast.”
The Iwatobi Swim Club leaves for the tournament. To prepare for the tournament to be held the next day, they spend the night at a hotel nearby. Having eaten dinner, they go check out the tournament venue. As the four of them look down at the pool from the viewer’s platform, they get even more excited.
Haruka and Makoto can’t sleep. Haruka murmurs, “I’m happy you’ve been here for me,” and then, feeling embarrassed, he goes for a run. He then bumps into Nagisa, who came out to look for Rei. Haruka thanks Nagisa for coming up with the idea of making a swimming club.
Rin calls out Rei and tells him the reason he quit swimming. His training in Australia didn’t go so well, so he thought it was time to quit. However, after swimming with Haruka, he forgot about that and decided to start swimming again. He also said that seeing Haruka and the others swim a relay in the prefectural tournament made him want to do a relay again. However, as Rin returns to the hotel, Mikoshiba calls on him and announces he won’t let him participate in the relay the next day.
With their angst of both adolescence and swimming in a relay, they start to talk about their real feelings. Is it true that Rin can’t swim with them? We have yet to see the sublimation of their feelings.
