The Fujiko F. Fujio Museum in Kawasaki City, Japan recently had its second year anniversary. This day (Sept. 3) was also Doraemon’s birthday, and passionate fans from all over the country came to celebrate.
Currently on display inside the museum are valuable original drawings by and photos of Fujiko F. Fujio, a reproduction of his workspace, and more. Being screened in the F Theater are original short videos for visitors to enjoy. There is also a manga area that has a full lineup of Fujiko F. Fujio’s work. In the Harappa restaurant located inside the museum are art pieces of well-known characters created by Fujiko F. Fujio everywhere you look. This is the perfect place to take commemorative photos after perusing the museum.
Also on display in Harappa are character panels that guests can take pictures of. What’s more, by downloading and using an exclusive app to take pictures with Doraemon, a birthday cake will appear through the use of AR technology. There was no end to the line of visitors waiting for their chance to take a rare photo with Doraemon using this app.
The museum’s cafe is also decked out in a celebratory theme. The entrance is decorated with a special statue of Doraemon holding a birthday cake, and the original menu features dishes prepared in the image of some of Fujiko F. Fujio’s characters, all with smiles on their faces. Though it feels wrong eating them, fans will surely still enjoy them.
There is also an abundance of souvenirs, one popular one being rusk that resembles Doraemon’s Memory Bread. There is even Doraemon’s favorite food: dorayaki.
This special celebration will be ongoing until Sept. 30, so if you are a Fujiko F. Fujio fan and happen to be in Japan, make sure to stop by the museum during this event.
