Today, (Aug. 7) Namco Bandai Games announced new information on the Nintendo 3DS game One Piece: Romance Dawn - Dawn of Adventure just before its release in Japan on Aug. 8. The new information covers the game’s battle system, item combination system, accessories, and quest dungeons.
The game’s battle system will include such components as abilities, attribute compatibility, status ailments, and more. Concerning the abilities, Luffy can strengthen himself with gear, Brook can strengthen the entire party with his music, and Chopper can heal other party members. Each character has their own special abilities. Both allies and enemies have their own attributes and weaknesses, making it possible to land massive damage by attacking with certain abilities. In addition to this, players can be attacked with status ailments from enemies such as poison.
Another component of the game is accessories. These have a variety of functions such as strengthening abilities or teaching characters new abilities. Their appearances also make them fun to change. By using the item combination system, players can make even more valuable accessories for the characters.
As players progress through the game’s story mode, they can obtain maps from treasure chests. After obtaining these, “quest points” will appear on the map, allowing players to enjoy an original adventure that differs from the original work. The layout of dungeons located at these quest points will change each time they are entered, and previously battled rivals will be even stronger. Furthermore, Pandaman, a hidden character in the original work, will appear as a rare boss in these dungeons to block the player’s path.
Upon defeating these strengthened enemies, players can receive wonderful items, so tackling them with their favorite characters is sure to be an enjoyable component of the game.
