The magazine Weekly Morning published by Kodansha is now readable on the app D Morning, which is available now on the App Store.
Many manga apps are currently available, but what makes D Morning unique is that Weekly Morning is available to read on the app the same day the print version releases. The newest issue is available to read every Thursday. More than 30 works are planned to be distributed on the app, including the popular series Space Brothers, Giant Killing, and Kacho Kosaka Shima. Unfortunately though, Vagabond and Billy Bat will not be included in the lineup. However, D Morning will have original content including a newly serialized version of The Silent Service, “Kazumi Yamashita’s Masterpiece Story Theater,” and more. The volumes will be more than 300 pages.
For those interested in the price, it’s only 500 yen per month! Since each issue of the print version of the magazine costs 330 yen, a month’s worth would cost 1,320 yen, meaning that 500 yen a month is a great price. In addition, the app features the ability to adjust the brightness, zoom, and, of course, view two pages side by side. The app has a ton of other features as well, including “Neko Darake,” which can only be read while the newest issue is downloading, and joint functionality with Twitter, Facebook, Line, and other SNS sites. It’s safe to say that you get your money’s worth with this app.
The app itself is free to download, but you will need to sign up for a monthly subscription in order to read any of the works. However, you can try it out free for a week after downloading it for the first time, and you can also read the first issue for free. Reading on a smartphone or tablet is a convenient and lightweight alternative to reading traditional print. Above all though, this app’s cheap price for all that it offers is its chief selling point. We get the feeling that this app will be a hit!
