Five Cutting Edge G-suits from the Movie “Gatchaman” Are Revealed

The anime series Science Ninja Team Gatchaman started its run in 1972. This year, it is being revived in an all-new form. The first live-action movie of the series is scheduled for release Japan-wide on Aug. 24.

The movie is gathering attention due to popular young actors Tori Matsuzaka, Go Ayano, Ayame Gouriki, Tatsuomi Hamada, and Ryohei Suzuki being chosen to play the members of the Gatchaman team. Also, the science-fiction world that was thought to be merely an anime world will come to life with 2013’s newest VFX technology.

The first visual for the movie, a group photo of the five members of the Gatchaman team wearing their characteristic G-suits, was released on April 11. These suits look more realistic and give a stiffer impression than those from the anime. The G-suits alone cost 20 million yen to produce, which is more than enough to show the scale of the movie’s production.

Tori Matsuzaka, who plays “Ken, the Eagle” said, “I wore the suit and actually played him...these suits were precisely our size, and it was easy to do intense action as well. Naturally, we flew around the movie set freely. The visual is very cool, so be sure to take a look at it!” His comment makes us anticipate this summer movie even more.

Familiar characters and mecha from the anime will also appear, such as the evil organization Galactor and its leader, Bergu Kattse. Keep an eye on how this movie develops!
