Doraemon Movie Series Surpasses 100 Million Viewers!

On March 9 of this year, Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Secret Gadget Museum released and started making history. The Doraemon movie series that includes 34 works has achieved a cummulative total audience of over 100 million people.

Even in regard to simply being a Japanese film and not in regard to animation, this achievement is still impressive. The past highest attended special effects series Godzilla achieved a total audience of 99 million people and has remained number one for successive generations. However, the love for Doraemon has also continued over several generations, and its ever-increasing popularity is now even more apparent.

This is not the film’s only momentous achievement. Over 25 thousand advance tickets for the film were sold, and the film remained in first place in the weekend box office ranking for two consecutive weeks. Only 16 days after the film’s release, the total audience reached 1.8 million, and the total box office revenue reached over 2 billion yen. The total box office revenue is now estimated at 4 billion yen.
