American Comic and Graphic Novel for Hello Kitty Announced!

On Feb. 11, Sanrio, the popular company behind Hello Kitty, announced a partnership with VIZ Media to publish an original English comic and graphic novel series for Hello Kitty.

It was also announced that NECA, the largest character toy and collectible company in America, has reached a licensing agreement with Sanrio and will begin production on a new lineup of goods targeted at both kids and adults.

The front cover for the Hello Kitty comic is being created by the Eisner Award winning, famous illustrator Jacob Chabot. Other popular American artists have also been enlisted for this project, which seems to be fully using an American literary style. The first comic will be announced this summer. The graphic novel for the project, titled “Here We Go!,” will be announced this fall. These works will be published under the VIZ Kids brand with a rating of A (appropriate for all ages).

Sanrio’s advancement into the world of American comics is not to be missed!
