Tomica’s Latest Series “Dream Tomica” Features Pikachu, Mario, Hello Kitty, and More!

On Dec. 28, 2012, Tomica announced the new series “Dream Tomica”. The series features mini cars modeled after anime and game characters exceptionally popular with children. For example, there is a car modeled after Pikachu from Pokémon, Mario from Mario Kart, and Hello Kitty from Sanrio. The series is quite large and impressive.

In 1970, Tomica began producing a series of mini car in Japan modeled after domestic cars. As of now, they have created over 800 different mini cars and have sold more than 564 million cars. There are still many Tomica fans today, although many are adults who have loved Tomica since they were children. Therefore, Takara Tomy, the company that produces Tomica, made this special children series to widen the age range of the Tomica fanbase.

With the new Dream Tomica series, the hopes of “obtaining mini car fans of over three generations” may soon be achieved.
