Jump Festa 2013: Game Booth Report

Jump Festa 2013 was supercharged with popular games!

Jump Festa 2013 was held from Dec. 22-23, 2012 at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba. The event was a cooperation between the magazines Weekly Shonen Jump, V Jump, Jump Square, and Saikyo Jump. Aside for booths for each magazine, the event also featured many game companies who had their latest games on display.

Over at CAPCOM’s booth, Monster Hunter 4 was available to demo. Even though it was only the afternoon of the first day, the game was so popular that there was a waiting list posted for those who wanted to demo it. The demo area was decorated like a town from the game. The demo itself offered fans the opportunity to experience both the games’ singleplayer and multiplayer. CAPCOM also had another popular game series on display, Gyakuten Saiban 5. This game was so popular that they stopped handing out tickets to demo the game while it was still morning and started putting people on a waiting list. The demo area for this game was decorated like a courtroom, and a great number of fans were enjoying the demo.

Over at Square Enix’s booth, there was a 45 minute wait to demo Dragon Quest VII: Eden no Senshitachi, the newest game in the greatly popular Dragon Quest series.

In the middle of SEGA’s booth was an area to demo the upcoming RPG Shining Arc as well as a machine to listen to the main characters voices. The booth was also gaining a lot of attention due to the booth girls, who were dressed up in cosplay of the character Panis. Two Hatsune Miku titles were also on display at SEGA’s booth, Hatsune Miku -Project DIVA-f and Hatsune Miku Project DIVA Arcade Version B. The latter game had a wait time of three hours and the line was wrapped around the booth. There were so many people lined up, it would have been easy to mistake it as a line for a concert.

Nintendo had two games on display at their booth: New Super Mario Bro. U and Nintendo Land. Even though both of these titles have already been released, the lines for both were still long. New Super Mario Bro. U had a 90 minute wait and Nintendo Land had a 70 minute wait. Though such popularity is only expected from Nintendo.

NAMCO BANDAI had an abundance of games on display at their booth including One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, Naruto SD: Powerful Shippuden, Toriko: Gourmet Monsters!, Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission, Dragon Ball Battle Royale: Super Saiyan Awakening, Digimon Adventure, Tales of Hearts R, and Gintama no Sugoroku. This booth was a big hit with the younger crowd and attracted a huge number of attendees.

Out of all of the games that were on display at Jump Festa 2013, which one are you looking forward to the most?
