Lawson is a popular chain of convenience stores throughout Japan. In Japan alone, the chain has more than 10 thousand stores. Three hundred and seventy stores have also been established in areas overseas, such as Indonesia, Hawaii, and China.
The most popular product at Lawson is the oden, a unique, flavorful Japanese dish made with daikon radishes, boiled eggs, kombu, noodles, and various other ingredients. As a promotion for oden, a Vocaloid called Akikoloid-chan has been created. It may be surprising, but Lawson has been developing this Vocaloid since 2011. As Lawson’s original Vocaloid, Akikoloid-chan wears a costume sporting Lawson’s signature blue and white vertical stripes.
Two songs have been created by Lawson using Akikoloid-chan as part of their promotion: “Steamy Hot Oden Song” and “Oden My Life”. Promotional videos (PV) featuring Akikoloid-chan have also been released, and they are definitely worth checking out. Be warned though, they are sure to make you hungry. The supervisors of the PVs for “Steamy Hot Oden Song” and “Oden My life” were Takuya Hosogane and WakmuraP respectively. Both creators are worth taking notice of.
