It was announced on Nov. 30, 2012 that Team Rocket’s Meowth will be coming to the Nintendo DS games Pokemon Black Version 2 and Pokemon White Version 2. For a limited time, from Dec. 7, 2012 to Jan. 10, 2013, players can download Meowth for free for use in both games.
This campaign is to commemorate the revival of Team Rocket in the TV anime Pokemon Best Wishes Season 2: Episode N. In the 15 years since the start of the anime series, this is the first time that Team Rocket’s Meowth is being given away for free.
The free download is being distributed over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service. Those who have access to a wireless LAN can connect to the service and download the gift from the comfort of their homes. Those without a wireless LAN can download the gift at participating stores such as McDonald’s that feature the Nintendo Zone Wi-Fi connection service.
The promotion has a few caveats though: Team Rocket’s Meowth can only be downloaded once per game, he cannot be deposited to the Global Trade Service, and he cannot be used with Pokemon Black or Pokemon White.
