The Saint Comedy Manga “Saint Young Men” Is Becoming an Anime Movie!

Having waited for years, this anime movie is finally almost here!

The comedy manga Saint Young Men is finally becoming a movie. The manga is popular all throughout the world, so much so that even the British Museum displays a copy. The movie is planned to release on May 10, 2013, and a special trailer of the movie is already playing during the previews of Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo movie screenings.

Hikaru Nakamura’s Saint Young Men is a comedy manga about the religious leaders Jesus and Buddha, and has been serialized in Morning 2 since 2007. Enlightened Buddha and God’s son Jesus are in the 19th century sharing an apartment in Tachikawa, Tokyo while on vacation. Buddha’s financial traits are similar to a stingy grandmother, whereas Jesus can’t help his impulsive purchasing. Everyday is full of laughter with this Holy duo in Japan. The manga has been so well received, that there are now over eight million copies in print.

Advance ticket sales (1,500 yen each, tax included) began on Nov. 17, 2012 at Eva Q screenings. Those who purchased advance tickets received special Saint Young Men goods. The first of which was a limited edition calendar book, followed by a message stamp set. The promotion for these two items has ended, but there are rumors of a third present that will be given out in spring 2013.

Keep a lookout for these Saints!
