Dwango Inc. and Niwango Inc. have collaborated to open the NicoNico Main Store Branch merchandise shop. The shop is located on the fifth floor of the Tokyu Hands Annex Store in Nagoya City, Japan. The shop sells popular merchandise not available at NicoNico Main Store in Harajuku, Tokyo.
At NicoNico Main Store Branch, you can find novelty goods as well as character goods featuring such characters as the mascot NicoNico TV-chan, who was born when the video streaming service began in Dec. 2006. Before the arrival of NicoNico Main Store Branch, NicoNico merchandise was only sold at local and overseas events such as NicoNico Daikaigi, NicoNico Choukaigi, and NicoNico Machikaigi. In response to the popularity of their products at these events, NicoNico set up its first official merchandise store, NicoNico Main Store, in Harajuku in April 2011. The store-only merchandise proved to be a big hit with not only Nico Nico Douga fans, but also tourists and students on school trips who buy them as souvenirs.
NicoNico Main Store Branch is also testing the waters with a section of goods from NicoNico Main Store. Merchandise on sale includes character plush toys, stationery, and popular CDs from Vocaloid producers. From popular items in Tokyo to limited edition goods found only in Nagoya, the new shops boast over 150 different items in their impressive lineups.
On Nov. 18, 2012, an opening event titled "NicoNico Machikaigi in Nagoya Glory - Main Store Branch Festival" was held, increasing the popularity of the new store even more.
