Final Fantasy is Square Enix’s long-running series of fantasy RPGs originally created by Hironobu Sakaguchi. So far there are 15 games in the main Final Fantasy series as well as several spin-offs and side games. Although the games are designed to work on a stand alone basis, there are several recurring elements such as the Chocobo—a large, flightless bird which has almost become a mascot for the franchise—and the Moogles which are kind of like big teddy bears with little bat wings and an antenna on their heads.
The Final Fantasy series has also received several anime adaptations including the OVA Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals which was a sequel to Final Fantasy V. The first feature film based on the franchise, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was released by Square Pictures in 2001 and was then followed in 2005 by Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children which was also accompanied by the OVA Last Order: Final Fantasy VII. Final Fantasy also became a 25-episode TV anime titled Final Fantasy: Unlimited in 2001, and A-1 Pictures also produced the Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV series of 10-minute teasers for Final Fantasy XV.
