Test fountain pens before regular use
The Hobonichi Techo's Tomoe River paper is designed to prevent bleed-through, but some fountain pens and water-based ink pens are not compatible with this paper. When switching to a new pen, we recommend testing the pen somewhere in the book, such as the back memo pages, to see if the ink bleeds through or takes an especially long time to dry.
All covers are hand-made and may contain slight variances
Each and every cover is individually sewn by a factory worker hand-operating a sewing machine. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but as these products are hand-made, covers are not made as exact copies.
Silk printed image may peel off over time
The logo inside the cover is silk-printed onto the cover's material. This delicate print may peel or come off with daily use. If using a Cover on Cover, the silk print may stick to the plastic and eventually come off with it from the constant contact.
Color may vary slightly between cover and pockets
The material for the pockets is printed or dyed separately and later sewn onto the cover. While colors are designed to be consistent across the entire cover, the shade of the pockets may vary slightly from the rest of the cover.
Sliding no-slip pens into the pen holder
Pens with rubber, non-slip grips may be difficult to slide into the pen holder.
Maximum pen width of 13.5mm for pen holder
Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5mm (0.53") in diameter.

The Hobonichi Techo (“tetch-oh”) is a Japanese daily planner from the creators of the website Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shimbun, or “Hobonichi,” who set out to make the kind of planner they would use. Designed for maximum customizability, it evolves every year based on customer input. It has become one of the most popular planners in Japan and now has over half a million users around the world. There are innumerable uses for Hobonichi Techo books including for hobbies, business, crafting, food diaries, academics, recordkeeping, journaling, and more.
This cover is modeled after Shigesato Itoi's 1994 Super Nintendo game, MOTHER 2 (EarthBound in North America).
One of the design features the townscape of Saturn Valley, home of the iconic Mr. Saturn. This scene recreates the eclectic town that appears before your eyes after you emerge from the caverns, and includes our heroes Ness, Paula and Jeff. The pen holders are hot spring pink and lake blue, and the cover interior is a bright shade of brown with the MOTHER 2 logo imprinted in white. Carry this cover alongside you to relive the excitement of the day you first stepped into this strange world—but be careful of the Mad Duck hiding inside the outer pocket.
The other design ‘Cast’ features a wide array of characters that appear throughout the entire game, including the Bubble Monkey, Dr. Andonuts, a Tenda, the Exit Mouse, the Runaway Five, Apple Kid, the Slot Machine Sanchez Brothers, Aloysius, and lots more, making it fun to look through and find all your favorite NPCs. The lineup also features such hits as the hotel sign, the bird phone from Deep Darkness, and the trash can we all know and love. You can even spot some sprites that were exclusive to the Japanese version before being edited during localization. The cover interior is the characteristic bright red of the MOTHER series, complete with the MOTHER 2 logo imprinted in white. Keep this cover alongside you to carry all the memories of EarthBound with you at once.
