The TV anime adaptation of Dies irae will be airing in Oct. 2017, and an audio drama called Irasshai Zatsunenji featuring the cast is also available for streaming on the official anime site.
The Dies irae teaser visual includes protagonist Fujii Ren, Reinhard Heydrich, and members of the Longinus Dreizehn Orden. Each character's illustration is extremely expressive, and is sure to have fans pumped for battle scenes!
The 18-part Irasshai Zatsunenji audio drama also features Toriumi Kousuke as Fujii, Fukuhara Ayaka as his childhood friend Ayase Kasumi, and Nabatame Hitomi as his upperclassman Himuro Rei. It was specially written by Masada Takashi, scenario writer for the original visual novel, and is a great way to get introduced to the story before the series airs!
The anime is based on the video game series Dies irae that first came out on the PC in 2007. The anime adaptation project was crowdfunded in 2015 and earned more than 90,000,000 yen in 2 months.
Kudo Susumu ( Mardock Scramble, Minami Kamakura High School Girls Cycling Club ) is serving as director, while Masada Takashi will be working on the series composition and screenplay. ACGT will be working on animation.
Fujii Ren lives in Suwahara where a headhunting serial killer is on the loose. He has a terrible nightmare where he loses his own head in a guillotine, serving as a harbinger for a horrible battle of fear and anguish that was yet to come.
