A historic event took place on Jan. 14 when the cast of the Days anime took to the Esfortia Arena in Hachioji, Tokyo for a real life game of futsal. Yoshinaga Takuto, Matsuoka Yoshitsugu, Namikawa Daisuke, Ono Daisuke, Miyano Mamoru, Yasumoto Hiroki, Yoshino Hiroyuki, Ishikawa Kaito, Suzune Okabe, Komatsu Shohei, Terajima Junta, Konishi Katsuyuki, and Ise Mariya all made an appearance as did Howl Be Quiet, who handled the show’s opening theme.
Kicked off by Yoshinaga, the game began with a huge roar from the crowd, and while thinking back on some well-known scenes selected by the author of the original manga, Yasuda Tsuyoshi, the cast also talked about some of their memories from the recording sessions.
Howl Be Quiet performed a halftime set including “Wake We UP,” and “Higher Climber” which were both featured as opening themes of the anime, with freestyle soccer team Sur de Wave also entertaining the crowd.
After the live concert, the game kicked back off with Namikawa leading the offensive and Yasumoto leading the defensive for a series of fun games, from the futsal match to target kicking and a bubble soccer relay.
When the futsal match finally got started, the auditorium was also graced by a visit from well-known soccer-star-impersonating comedians Amore Hashimoto and Asano Chiaki. Namikawa’s team was declared the winner with the final score at 5-2, lifting the trophy high to huge applause from the crowd. The cast then took a last lap around the arena before the successful event came to a close.
