[AMV Punch!] - Unexpected Twist

[AMV Punch!] - Unexpected Twist

AMVs allow for a lot of creative freedom. An artist may expand on an anime and make it look twice as awesome, or captivate specific themes and emotions. In this case however, we found a few AMVs that take some memorable shows and turn them into something completely different and unexpected, making us question what part of the internet we just stepped into.

Affective Schoolgirls – Seriy

Chances are you have probably seen or heard of Nichijou; an anime that is essentially a mass of semi-random events following the main cast of characters and their everyday lives. Filled with odd occurrences such as a school principal wrestling a deer. Artist Seriy takes Nichijou to a whole new level of unexpected weirdness by turning it into a german folk metal music video with all the randomness of the anime thrown in to create a surprisingly entertaining AMV.

Nightmagi Cometh – KisanziVNS

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica is one of the more psychological portrayals of the magical girl genre. How anyone came up with this particular AMV idea is quite baffling. Crazy, silly, and inexplicable can be used to describe the Nightmagi Cometh AMV which seemingly paints Mami as the “Dayman” and Homura as the “Nightman”. Ultimately this video shows how much of a boss Mami is. This entire video is a plethora of “I don’t know what’s going on but it’s awesome” moments.

Bloody Sister – cheesehurry

Oreimo is seen as a standout romcom with well developed character relations and a great incorporation of the views on otaku culture. Bloody Sister takes the main cast from Oreimo and essentially puts them in a School Days situation for a dramatic turn of events following tragedy and jealousy. Editor cheesehurry wanted to emphasize the song choice of Hollywood Undead’s Paradise Lost for telling their own tale of Kirino having a mental collapse, leading towards lust and murder. My little sister can’t be this terrifying.

Yakitate – narutomaniac

Clannad is used in many AMVs, and for good reason considering it’s one of the best shows that seemingly makes everyone cry. Editor narutomaniac takes a unique approach by turning Clannad into a messed up weird action parody that has no real direction or sense of story outside of “bread rolls are bad for your brain” as according to the editor. I’m not really sure what to think of Yakitate but this rendition is weirdly refreshing for a Clannad AMV.
