Two huge heroes from the world of DC Comics will clash in the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice when it releases on March 25 in the U.S. and Japan. Before that, a tie-in campaign has begun with Toyota’s luxury minivan Esquire. The TV commercial “Bat, Super Salary” is also available to stream on the official site.
The tie-in with Batman v Superman is to promote the release of the special Hybrid Gi Black Tailored edition of the Esquire luxury minivan. In the TV commercial “Bat, Super, Salary” a Japanese salaryman appears along with Batman and Superman. The commercial has tremendous impact with its fast-paced cuts and the Esquire shown in the world of the movie.
The salaryman is played by actor Kanji Tsuda. Tsuda is well-known among tokusatsu fans for appearing in Kamen Rider Ryuki and Garo: Yami o Terasu Mono among others, and he gives an excellent performance in the commercial. His coolness stands up with that of Batman and Superman as he gets in a heated argument in a meeting and stands in a downpour shouting.
A tweet campaign has also begun on the site for the tie-in. Those who follow and post to the official Toyota twitter account will be entered into a drawing in which 50 people will win an original sunshade. The eye-catching collaboration item features the logos of Batman and Superman.
Zack Snyder of 300 fame is directing Batman v Superman. With his experience working on the previous Superman movie Man of Steel, attention is pouring in in anticipation to what he has in store.
