On Jan. 18, car maker Toyota began a personification project for its newest model of Prius hybrids called “Prius! Impossible Girls.” The unique project is expressing 40 Prius parts as 2D characters, and they’re being voiced by 10 popular voice actresses including Kana Hanazawa, Aoi Yuki, and Yuka Iguchi.
The new Prius is the first car with the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) which thoroughly seeks to “create an even better car.” In order to convey what’s different about the Prius, Toyota launched the new project “Prius! Impossible Girls” for people to get to know the parts one by one.
The project features 40 parts including the engine which has a maximum thermal efficiency of 40%, the double wishbone suspension that gives a smooth, comfortable ride, and more imagined as illustrated characters by 24 creators. Ten voice actresses have been appointed to voice the characters. The full lineup of splendid actresses includes Kana Hanazawa, Aoi Yuki, Yuka Iguchi, Rina Hidaka, Risa Taneda, Ai Kayano, Akari Kito, Misaki Kuno, Takao Yuki, and Nichika Omori.
The first personified part is the “2ZR-FXE engine,” the second is the “hybrid transaxle,” and the third is the “power control unit”—each character is based on a molded part. In addition to illustrations, the official site also has explanations of each part. Through this project, the more you get to know the characters, the more you’ll feel captivated by the new model Prius.
A TV commercial for “Prius! Impossible Girls” began airing in Japan on Jan. 19. Radio commercials will begin on Feb. 1 on the net radio show about broadcasting culture, Iguchi Yuka no Mooooon. A variety of other promotions are also on the way including a sampling event that will also be held on Feb. 8 at the Marunouchi Line Metro Promenade in Shinjuku Station.
