Sega Toys and Sanrio, makers of the widely popular Jewelpet series, have joined forces once again to create new characters. Both companies are working jointly on developing fairy characters called “Little Fairilu.”
Little Fairilu are fairies of flowers, bugs, and mermaids. Each holds her own “key,” and the story follows them as they search for the door their key will open. The characters teach kids about the importance of realizing your dreams.
There are heaps of merchandise of the characters, with Sega Toys creating toys and Sanrio creating other items. The franchise will also be licensed to other companies for even more merchandising. It’s shaping up to be just as big a hit as Jewelpet has been for the past eight years.
Little Fairilu is also becoming a TV anime. Titled Rilu Rilu Fairilu: Yousei no Door (Fairy’s Door), it has been revealed that the anime will begin broadcasting on TV Tokyo networks Feb. 6, 2016. At 9:30 a.m. every Saturday; it’s even in a timeslot that’s easy for kids to watch.
Studio Deen, well known from Jewelpet: Magical Change and Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju, is handling animation production. Directing is Sakura Gojo, the series composer is Aya Matsui, and the character designer is Nishichi Yamaguchi.
The story follows fairies called Fairilu who are born from Fairilu Seeds and depicts the lives of a tulip Fairilu named Lippu and other flower, bug, and mermaid Fairilu living in Little Fairilu. On the flipside, in the human world, there lives a girl named Nozomi Hanamura who believes there are Fairilu in the world and longs to one day meet one. One day she witnesses the moment a Fairilu is born through a “fairy door.” Each week the show will feature tons of abundantly unique Fairilu.
On Jan. 30, a special program will air ahead of the anime. In it will be an ample introduction to the world of Little Fairilu. The first visuals of the anime will also be shown.
