Since 1982’s Super Dimension Fortress Macross, many series have been developed in the Macross franchise, and now the title to the newest series has been announced. Previously temporary, on Sept. 25 the final title was revealed to be Macross Delta (stylized as Macross Δ).
A key visual was also released on Sept. 25. The artwork depicting red and blue fighter craft leaves a deep impression, and “Shoot it down!” is written as the catch phrase. The logo is also shown, which shines blue and pink and uses soft metallic hues. “Delta” is also written as part of the logo.
Macross Delta was first announced back in December 2014. The New Songstress Audition began at the same time, and it is supposed that music and idols will hold a big key to the series in the same way as previous installments in the franchise to date. The number of participants in the audition is said to be around 80,000. The new series comes seven years after the previous TV anime, Macross Frontier, and four years after the movie Macross Frontier: Sayonara no Tsubasa. Things are finally picking up for this latest Macross series that fans have been anxiously awaiting.
On the other hand, the information this time is restricted to the title, logo, and key visual. It seems further information will be revealed on Oct. 29, on which day beginning at noon will be a “Super Dimension” Production Press Conference.
Appearing on stage at the conference will be chief director Shoji Kawamori and members of the main staff. The winner of the New Songstress Audition will also be revealed along with the character she will be playing. A live stream of the conference will also be available online. This way, fans all over the world will be able to hear the new news at the same time. Details on how to watch the live stream will be announced in the coming days on the newly renovated Macross portal site. Big announcements for such a big franchise - there’s no way fans will want to miss it.
