The TV anime series Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri has been gaining popularity since its broadcast began in July, and now the season 2 broadcast has been confirmed. It will premiere in January 2016. The anime came to a temporary conclusion in September, but there are more troubles yet in store for main character Yoji Itami.
Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri is a fantasy novel series published by Alphalight Bunko. The series was originally published online by author Takumi Yanai and was adapted to tankobon volumes in 2010. There are 10 volumes in the series total—five in the main series and five in the spin-off—and a bunkoban edition as well. The original series has over 2.8 million copies in print, and the manga edition illustrated by Satoru Sao began serializing online in 2011.
The TV anime adaptation was announced in 2014 and began broadcasting this July. It is produced by A-1 Pictures and directed by Takahiko Kyogoku. A wonderful cast performs in the anime including Junichi Suwabe as main character Yoji Itami, Hisako Kanemoto as Tuka Luna Marceau, and Risa Taneda as Rory Mercury.
The second season will be broadcast roughly three months after the end of the first, and there will be a flood of book releases just before that in mid-December. There’s volume 8 of the manga, the bunkoban edition of Gate Gaiden 4 parts 1 and 2, and three manga spin-offs focusing on different characters all to be released at the same time. Being that the series is so hotly talked about, these are bound to gain attention.
