Fujio Akatsuka’s masterpiece manga Osomatsu-kun is being resurrected as a new TV anime titled Osomatsu-san, and new information about the October broadcast has been posted.

First is the broadcast premiere date of Oct. 5. It will broadcast on the same day in three regions of Japan: at 1:35 a.m. on TV Tokyo and TV Osaka, and at 3:05 a.m. on TV Aichi. Broadcasts will also reach a wide audience through AT-X and BS Japan.

Osomatsu-san is an anime adaptation of Osomatsu-kun by Fujio Akatsuka that began serialization in 1962 in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday and became a huge hit for its intense gags. The series has been adapted to anime before, however the anime this time depicts Osomatsu-kun and others grown up, and it seems it will have a unique story.

Credited as director is Yoichi Fujita who is known for Gintama and others, and the cast is a lineup of stellar voice actors. The anime will surely attract attention from all over.

The main visual has also been posted. It shows the six sons drawn with plenty of personality. It’s also full other familiar characters as well, including Iyami, Chibita, Totoko, and Dekapan, and allows viewers plenty to hypothesize about regarding the interesting developments in store.

AOP has also been confirmed as the opening theme artist. They will sing "Hanamaru Pippi wa Yoiko Dake." AOP is a unit of anime-loving females who are joined around the concept of “freely supporting anime.” The group is active in a variety of scenes, and a new member joined the group back in July. The unit has been in charge of ending themes to anime to date, but this will be their first opening theme. Keep a lookout for the song.
