Six Swordsmen to Appear in “Touken Ranbu” Musical - Cast Announced Plus Visual Unveiled

Touken Ranbu Online is a smash hit PC browser game which has received overwhelming support from female gamers. In truth, the secret of its popularity is the strange situation where Japanese swords have been anthropomorphised into handsome young men.

The game is currently readying its musical adaptation. The announcement of the production of a musical created a big splash, but finally the characters which will appear in the try outs and the cast for the six leading roles have now been announced ,and the show’s visual has also been unveiled. Seeing as Touken Ranbu only features beautiful boys, a lot of fans are going to be very happy with this state of affairs.

First of all, six “Touken Danshi" have been announced: Mikazuki Munechika, Kogitsunemaru, Ishikirimaru, Iwatooshi, Imanotsurugi, and Kashuu Kiyomitsu. Each will be played by a popular and very of the moment actor. Mario Kuroba has been cast as Mikazuki Munechika. In 2010 Kuroba won second prize plus the ADF Award in the Junon Superboy Contest. From 2012 until November 2014, he also starred in the Prince of Tennis musical as the seventh generation Eiji Kikumaru. He’ll also be taking the role of Ritsu Kisaragi in September’s La Corda d’Oro musical too so he’s an actor with a very promising future.

Ryo Kitazono will be playing Kogitsunemaru. Kitazono starred in the Nintama Rantaro musical and is particularly skilled at action. Tsubasa Sakiyama, who is a member of Chack-Up and currently appearing on stage in Kodomo no Omocha, will play Ishikirimaru. Daichi Saeki who will play Iwatooshi won second prize in the Mister Rikkyo Contest 2009 whilst studying at Rikkyo University. At the time he was dedicated to his studies, but now he’s mainly active in movies. Shinya Ohira, who will play Imanotsurugi, made his debut in the role of Kachiro Kato in the Prince of Tennis musical Second Season. He is mainly active on the stage. Kashuu Kiyomitsu will be played by Ryuji Sato who made his first stage appearance in 2013 in the Nintama Rantaro musical and has since gone on to star in the Prince of Tennis Second Season musical as well as this year’s Naruto and is currently starring in the smash hit Gakuran Kageki Teiichi no Kuni.

Touken Ranbu Online was sent out into the world by the hitmakers DMM Games and Nitroplus and user numbers have already exceeded one million. Players raise “Touken Danshi” which are famous swords transformed into swordsmen, and these pretty sword boys are very popular.
In the musical, fans will be able to see them up close and for real. The Touken Ranbu musical will be playing first of all at the AiiA 2.5 Theatre Tokyo in Shibuya, Tokyo from Oct. 30 until Nov. 8, 2015. After that, it’s scheduled to run as a fully fledged musical from May 2016.
