Anime Expo 2015 Event Report: Noble Fans Enjoy “Fate/stay night” Special Event

“Do you… love Fate?” The audience roared and applauded a resounding yes to the question. Miss Mashiro joined them in their excitement and said, “Me too! I love Fate! And I love LA!”

Over 3,500 fans were in attendance at Anime Expo 2015’s main event for Fate/stay night. The event started off with a bang when Ayano Mashiro, one of the special guest vocalists, performed Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works’ first opening theme, “Ideal White.” Attendees of the event were also treated to a live performance of the anime’s second opening theme, “Brave Shine,” by special guest Aimer.

The live concert created an electric atmosphere for the entire audience of Fate lovers, which was heightened even more by an English dubbed screening of the Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works episode, “The First Battle.” The theater’s surround sound speakers brought the fans into the action as if every explosive attack in the episode was real!

But what challenging efforts went into this and every other episode of the latest Fate installment? A panel of guests from ufotable came on stage and happily shared the details.
Ayako Kawasumi (voice actress of Saber), Takahiro Miura (director), Sudo Tomonori (character designer), Hikaru Kondo (ufotable CEO / producer) and Atsuhiro Iwakami (Aniplex producer) sat on stage for an informative Q and A, shedding light on everyone’s favorite Holy Grail War.

Last but not least, Tomonori wowed the crowd by drawing his first ever live art piece in front of the fans. He expressed his joy about the event and said, “I was watching [the episode] backstage. It was a nice episode and I was happy to watch with all of you.” While not every person in the audience could take home Tomonori’s glorious one-of-a-kind drawing, each and every fan did get their hands on a 3 by 5 inch vinyl collector’s print of the elegant and noble heroine, Saber.

Kawasumi expressed her gratitude towards the fans during the screening: “...I was able to feel everyone’s passion and excitement. Thank you very much!”

The Limited Edition Blu-Ray Box Set I of Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works will be released on Aug. 25, 2015. Do you wish to have this, my master?
