The schedule of the second episode of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, an anime launched in April 2015, was revealed sooner than expected. Artesia’s Sorrow will show the fates of Casval and Artesia after leaving Side 3, and it will start screening from Oct. 31.
Following after the first episode, “Blue-Eyed Casval,” “Artesia’s Sorrow” is being developed simultaneously for theaters, video streaming services, and as a Blu-ray set. Seeing how the previous episode stunned fans with its quality, becoming a huge hit in both manga and anime, it hardly surprising that both fans and the staff have high expectations from the upcoming episode as well.
“Artesia’s Sorrow” will be screened at 15 movie theaters Japan-wide, with Movix Miyoshi in Aichi Prefecture and Movix Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture having been added to the 13 theaters previously hosting its prequel. The first episode being such a huge hit resulted in the inclusion of these additional theaters. Fans living in Tohoku might especially welcome this decision as there weren’t any screenings in the region before.
Fans who want to see this episode in theaters should note that it will only be screened for two weeks from Oct. 31 to Nov. 13. Of course, there will be an advance sale of Blu-rays at the theaters, too. Be careful not to miss out as these seem to sell out early on.
It’s reasonable to say that the standout among the Blu-rays is the First Edition. It costs ¥10,000 and is only available for purchase during advance sales in movie theaters and on Bandai Visual’s official webshop, Bandai Visual Club (BVC). BVC will be accepting orders on a special site between July 1 and Sept. 27.
The First Edition comes with a storage box specially drawn by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the author of the original manga and supervising director of the anime, as well as a storyboard collection, a settings collection, an illustration sheet, an explanatory leaflet, and a booklet. It contains everything you want to know, making it a gem worthy of a collection.
The story starts from three years after Char aka Casval and his sister, Artesia aka Seyla, leave Side 3. The demonic hands of the Zabi family reach out to them once again, and Side 3 is renamed the Republic of Zeon. How will Casval and Artesia’s destiny unfold in this new era? These are developments not to miss out on!
