The start date and broadcast time of Rampo Kitan: Game of Laplace, the original anime series which is to begin in summer 2015, have been announced. The show will air from July 2 as part of Fuji TV’s Noitamina block, and now as we approach the launch date the main cast has also been revealed. That’s not all, the opening theme, advance preview information and story introduction, have also been unveiled so you can begin to see some of the details involved with this series which is shrouded in mystery.
The main members of the cast are: Takahiro Sakurai ( The Fruit of Grisaia ) who will play the genius high school detective who investigates these mysterious crimes - Akechi; Rie Takahashi ( Sore ga Seiyu!, School-Live! ) as Kobayashi whose interest in others is extremely slim leaving him feeling bored every day; and Daiki Yamashita ( Yowamushi Pedal ) in the role of Hashiba - the most straightforward of the group. There are high expectations for the enthusiastic performances of these three actors as the boys contend with various mysterious incidents.
A new commercial is currently available on the official website in which you can see facial expressions and hear voice snippets of each character. Additionally, the newest visual with the characters who drive the story out in full force has also been unveiled. The characters are depicted hanging out in Akechi’s office with its shady yet fascinating atmosphere. Information on the other characters is due to be revealed at a later date.
The opening theme will be “Speed to Masatsu,” a new song by the popular rock band amazarashi who are certainly an appropriate choice for the worldview of Rampo Kitan. Lead vocalist and guitarist Hiromu Akita had this to say about the band’s selection: “It’s a real honor that our song was selected for the resurrection of Edogawa Rampo’s works as an anime. We’re looking forward to seeing it ourselves!” He also conveyed the following message to the fans: “It’s an elusive song, but I made it wondering if you’d understand it more as you listened to it. Transitory in speed, giving off sparks whilst grating against discord - it’s a song about that kind of life.”
On June 27, an advance preview screening of episodes 1 and 2 will be held in Odaiba, Tokyo. The event will take the form of a unique project where you can enjoy the world of Rampo Kitan: Game of Laplace as a “sensory guessing game” set. Check out the official website for the full details!

“That day, for the first time I wasn’t bored.”
A teacher, murdered and dismembered at a middle school. Kobayashi, a boy who attends the school in question, meets the genius detective who’s come to investigate the incident, Akechi. Kobayashi becomes interested in Akechi who only investigates bizarre crimes and, ignoring the fears of his friend Hashiba, volunteers himself as an “assistant.” Amongst the strange incidents which occur one after the other, Kobayashi begins to put aside the tedium of his everyday life.
