Popular GA Bunko novel Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry is getting an anime adaptation. Through the anime was previously announced to be progressing as the third part in GA Bunko’s 10th anniversary project, the animation production staff and cast have finally been announced. It has also been revealed that the anime will be a TV anime. Broadcast times have yet to be announced, but with the release of information on the staff and cast, it finally feels like the anime is coming together.
Shin Onuma, who has created many hits including Baka and Test and Ef: A Tale of Memories, is directing. Jin Tamamura is the series director, Shogo Yasukawa is the series composer, and Sei Komatsubara is the character designer. Silver Link and Nexus are producing the animation. It will be interesting to see what kind of series this group of staff will create.
The cast as well will likely spark attention. Voicing Ikki Kurogane, a student who transfers into a school for training Mage Knights, is Ryota Osaka. Because of his ease at handling large roles one after the next, there will be anticipation over how he will perform in this series. Additional cast includes Shizuka Ishigami as Stella Vermillion, a princess of the Vermillion Kingdom whom Ikki meets and who changes his fate, Nao Toyama as Shizuku Kurogane, and Shintaro Asanuma as Nagi Arisuin.
Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry is a “school life sword action” novel written by Riku Misora and illustrated by Won. Six volumes of the novel have been published. Volume 7 will be released on May 15.
A comic version is also in publication, and two volumes have been published so far by Square Enix. Including both the novel and comic, the series has over 5 million copies in print.
