The talked-about new anime studio Studio Colorido has produced a new feature-length anime. That anime is Typhoon Noruda, a story about a group of boys who meet at their school a mysterious girl the night before their cultural festival is hit by a typhoon.
Yojiro Arai, the director of the anime, is a newcomer who has worked on From Up on Poppy Hill and The Wind Rises among others at Studio Ghibli. With Typhoon Noruda, he makes his directorial debut. The fresh staff lineup also includes as character designer and animator Hiroyasu Ishida who is known as the director of Fumiko’s Confession and Hinata no Aoshigure.
Now, a trailer to this buzzing anime has finally been released. The trailer fully shows the three main characters along with their school being devastated by a typhoon. Though the trailer is short, it’s filled with highlights. One being that you can hear for the first time the theme song by Galileo Galilei. The title of the song is “Arashi no Ato de” and it was created specially for the film by Galileo Galilei to go along perfectly with the story. Don’t miss the vocals and melody that will call to mind youthful memories. Fans can also check out for the first time Shuhei Nomura’s vocal performance as main character Azuma. Don’t miss this performance by Nomura, who said regarding the role, “It was really difficult, and I was reminded once again how amazing voice stars are.”
Another highlight is a delightful announcement for anime lovers. The film will be screened concurrently with director Ishida’s Hinata no Aoshigure, which delivers a fantastic look at the feelings between elementary school boys and girls. The film is director Ishida’s debut work. We wonder if the combination of this work and Typhoon Noruda shows where Studio Colorido is headed.
Typhoon Noruda will be released Japan-wide on Friday, June 5, 2015, just in time for the approaching early summer typhoon season. It will be one of the talked-about films of the summer.

“It’s a great honor to be offered the role of theme song artist for Typhoon Noruda. The setting of the film is simple and universal, and the director gave specific requests. I feel like I was able to assemble the image of the song in my head after being shown the storyboards. Two people fighting in a downpour under a roofed bus stop. I wrote the song while picturing that. I was also very particular about the recording, and I certainly want everyone to hear it through the big speakers of a theater.”
