TV anime Chaos Dragon summer 2015 broadcast start; massive project by Toho x Seikaisha x Sega Networks
On Feb. 19, a massive multimedia project was unveiled to the surprise of anime and game fans. That project is Chaos Dragon.
The TV anime Chaos Dragon: Sekiryu Seneki (Red Dragon Campaign) will begin broadcasting on Tokyo MX and other networks in summer 2015. Releasing at the same time is the iOS/Android smartphone game Chaos Dragon Konton Senso (Chaos War). Add to this the original RPF (role-playing fiction) titled Red Dragon and a board game titled Chaos Dragon: Hao Shinju (Supreme Ruler Years) and you get a series with many ways to enjoy its world.
The project began as a TRPG (tabletop role-playing game) participated on by Gen Urobuchi, Kinoko Nasu, Izuki Kogyoku, Shimadoriru, and Ryogo Narita. The RPF Red Dragon was created through this collaboration.
Behind the surprising story are three of the top companies from three different industries: anime studio Toho, board game publisher Seikaisha, and game platform Sega Networks. Each company is creating a different product in their field of expertise for this series that began as a single work.
The TV anime Chaos Dragon: Sekiryu Seneki will depict the beginnings of the Chaos Project. The story takes place in year 3105 of the sparkling era and focuses on the small country of Nil Kamui, were the guardian Red Dragon has gone berserk. It will air in summer 2015 on Tokyo MX and other networks.
In time with the start of production, the staff members have been announced already as well. Directing is Masato Matsune who, while new to directing, is highly praised for his high tempo, stylish visuals. The series composer is Ukyo Kodachi who also worked as a game designer on the project. Sho Aikawa, who worked on anime special effects for such hits as Fullmetal Alchemist, is helping write the script. In charge of music is the wonderful Hitoshi Sakimoto of Final Fantasy XII. Producing the animation are hitmakers Silverlink and Connect. The production staff gives a peek at the amount of effort going into this anime.
Other not-to-be-missed projects are also in development along with the anime. Seikaisha is developing a “storytelling” board game titled Chaos Dragon: Hao Shinju. This takes place 10 years after the events of Sekiryu Seneki and revolves around seven heroes (controlled by the players).
We have also been told that the story to Sega Networks’ Chaos Dragon Konton Senso smartphone game will also complement that of Chaos Dragon: Hao Shinju. This new generation project with developments not seen before unfolding will likely be showered in attention this summer.
