The popular smartphone game app Chain Chronicle is getting an anime adaptation. Since the production announcement back in July that surprised fans there has been continued silence on the series, but things finally started picking up in a big way on Dec. 7.
A teaser site for the anime has opened, which reveals the anime’s title as Chain Chronicle: Haecceitas no Hikari (Chain Chronicle: The Light of Haecceitas). The first promotional video was also posted to the site as well. The video is about a minute long and its free use of CG hints at a high quality anime to come.
Details on the story have yet to be revealed, but the following explanation of its world has: “‘Haecceitas’ refers to the essence that makes something unique and different from any other. The subtitle includes significance to the anime’s story of heroes alive in this moment fighting against fate while the Black King tries to end the world and create a new one.”
The anime’s staff were also not revealed at this time, but judging from the visuals the announcement will be worth the wait. It might even be fun to try and guess the staff members from the video. Other information yet to be announced include the anime’s release schedule and cast. With so many mysteries left, fans can look forward to future developments.
Chain Chronicle was released by Sega in July 2013. It takes place on the remote continent of Yggdra. In the game, players become a knight who protects Yggdra from the Black Army. Its charms include the cast of characters you meet, deepening bonds, and how the story develops. Another appeal is the diversity of characters you can team up with, which amounts to over 500 in total. The fact that it’s a game with such a strong world likely means it will transition perfectly to anime.
