IMAX is a way to enjoy films on a gigantic screen. Add to this the realistic feel of stereoscopic 3D and the experience become even more exciting. In recent years, IMAX 3D screenings have been expanding due to widening popularity. Movies to date to get the IMAX 3D treatment include Avatar, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, and a great many others.

Surprisingly, however, no Japanese movie has been screened in IMAX 3D to date. However, that will change this April. The talked-about animated film Dragon Ball Z: Fukkatsu no F releasing countrywide on April 18 will be the first Japanese film screened in IMAX 3D.

IMAX 3D screenings of Dragon Ball Z: Fukkatsu no F will be held on 18 screens from Sapporo, Hokkaido in the north to Fukuoka in the south of Japan. Because a selling point of Dragon Ball Z is its intense visuals, fans should definitely get to an IMAX Digital Theater if there’s one close by.

Dragon Ball Z: Fukkatsu no F is the 19th movie in the Dragon Ball series that is so popular in Japan and around the world. Author Akira Toriyama himself wrote the film. The story will include bits from the anime so far as well as new material not found in the original manga. The film will depict the resurrection of one of the most powerful villains in the series - Frieza. It even has Toriyama’s seal of approval with its “terrific battles.” Because of this, a big highlight of the film will be the battle scenes with Goku and the others. There’s no doubt that the intensity will be on completely other level for the IMAX 3D screenings.

IMAX Digital Theaters are state-of-the-art premium theaters developed using the IMAX technology. The four components of film––visuals, sound, atmosphere, and production––are wholly customized for all theaters to match the larger-than-life proportions of IMAX. The theaters’ high quality digital visuals, intense sound system, and screen that stretches to fill up the wall give moviegoers a realistic experience like they’ve stepped into the movie.
