Bandai’s Hobby division has started a new plastic model series called Figure-rise Standard, with which you can put together a character’s body with your own hands. The series will release Super Saiyan Son Goku (2,700 yen, tax included) and Final Form Frieza (2,376 yen, tax included) from the world-famous series Dragon Ball.
The high point of this series is its use of the “Muscle Build System,” which allows you to put together the carefully formed muscles of those Dragon Ball characters with your own two hands. This series aims to expand the plastic model market and will be sold at more than 14 countries around the world at model shops, toy stores, online, and through various distributors.

The Muscle Build System allows you to build a character by piecing its muscles together.
The Figure-rise Standard Dragon Ball plastic model series has the major merit of its ability to express defined muscles. It allows you to really enjoy putting together the Dragon Ball characters as you see the muscle and body lines come together, how the clothes wrinkle, and the way different muscles and other parts work together. Also, because parts like the eyes and eyebrows are separate, they can be put together in a way that captures fine details.
The first release, Super Saiyan Son Goku and Final Form Frieza, will come out on July 30, 2016. Goku comes with optional parts for his famous Kamehameha and teleportation, and Frieza comes with his Death Beam and Death Ball, so you can even display them together in a combat scene!
The Hobby division hopes to expand the plastic model industry around the globe using the world-famous series Dragon Ball. In addition to Japan where this is being developed, preorders are being accepted around North America, Europe, and Asia in more than 14 countries.

■ About Dragon Ball
Written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball is a manga series which was serialized for 10 years in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) from 1984’s Issue 51 to 1995’s Issue 25. It follows protagonist Son Goku as he travels around the world in search of the Dragon Balls, a group of 7 orbs which allow their finder to be granted 1 wish.
The TV anime has run for more than 30 years, first appearing on Fuji TV in February, 1986. Dragon Ball Super has been airing since July, 2016 on Sunday mornings.
Its manga and anime are not only loved in Japan, but around the world.
