‘Yup, at This Rate it Can Never End!’ ‘Wake Up Girls!’ Movie News Released!

Wake Up, Girls! Zoku Gekijoban to be split into two films; releasing in September and December

The Wake Up, Girls! anime Fanclub Opening Celebration Meeting “Wake Up, Derby!” was held on March 18. At this event that attracted so many fans, a huge announcement was made. It had previously been announced that the next movie in the series would be titled Wake Up, Girls! Zoku Gekijoban (Wake Up, Girls! Continuation Movie), but it has now been revealed that the movie will be split into two. The first movie will release this September, with the second in December. In addition to this, the second teaser visual was revealed as well, which shows that excitement is building toward the new movie’s release.

The second teaser visual for Wake Up, Girls! Zoku Gekijoban includes the catch copy “Yup, at this rate it can never end!” along with the seven girls of the idol group Wake Up Girls! piling up their hands and looking spiritedly up toward the sky.

Regarding his decision to split the movie into two, director Yutaka Yamamoto explains, “It was the ‘continuity’ of being a sequel to a TV series, that and the fact that the first movie was short, at a little less than 60 minutes, so it boils down to there not being a work in the series formatted as a feature film.”

He also had the following message to fans: “I think fans will certainly want to savor that feeling of looking forward to the next development and not being able to wait a week for the TV series, even in theaters.” Impressions from the seven cast members after post-recording wrapped are also available on the official site, and from each you can feel their excitement.

In other news, a campaign for the anime called “Stamp Rally, Yarasete Kudasai!” will be held at AnimeJapan 2015 on March 21 and 22. The first fans to visit all seven booths will be presented with a “sticker that doubles as a changeable CD jacket” that makes use of the second teaser visual. Moreover, a rebroadcast of the TV series is planned to begin on TV Tokyo on April 7. The second live tour “Ittariktarishite Gomen ne!” will also be held this summer in four cities across Japan.
