A TV anime has been greenlit for Seraph of the End, a popular manga currently serialized in Jump SQ (Shueisha). Since this announcement, the series has attracted huge attention, and a batch of information concerning the anime was revealed on Dec. 20. This information was announced at Jump Festa 2015 held at Makuhari Messe. The new information includes a broadcast schedule, new members of the cast, staff roles including music producer and more, and even that a drama CD is in the works. A PV of the anime was also premiered at Jump Festa 2015, and this is now available on YouTube.
The first surprise for fans was likely the broadcast schedule for the anime. All that was known up to this point was that the anime had been greenlit, but it was revealed that the first season of the anime will broadcast from April to June 2015, and after a three-month hiatus the second season will begin broadcasting in October and last until December. The series will be divided into two parts with a six-month total hiatus between them. It will be a series filled with plenty of highlights. This is good news for fans. Broadcast channels and times are yet to be announced.
The newly released anime PV is also filled to the brim with highlights. The animation is being produced by Wit Studio. This studio that made a name for itself with Attack on Titan is known for its high quality.
Main character Yuichiro Yakuya is being played by Miyu Irino, and fans will be able to enjoy the sounds of music producer Hiroyuki Sawano, who was newly announced as the anime’s music composer.
Newly joined members of the cast and staff have also been announced. Joining the cast are popular names including Nobuhiko Okamoto (voice of Yoichi Saotome), Kaito Ishikawa (Shiho Kimizuki), and Yuka Iguchi (Mitsuba Sangu). The show also stars the previously announced Miyu Irino, Kensho Ono, Yuichi Nakamura, Takahiro Sakurai, and Saori Hayami.
Staff members include Hiroyuki Sawano from Blue Exorcist and Attack on Titan as music producer, Satoshi Kadowaki as chief animation director, and Ayumu Sawada among others. This elite staff is coming together to create Seraph of the End.
Also not to be missed is the currently-in-development drama CD. There will be a version of Volume 8 of the manga, to release on April 3, 2015, that will include a drama CD. The script of the CD was written by author Takaya Kagami himself, and even the front cover is newly drawn artwork by Yamato Yamamoto. Because this comes at the same time as the start of the broadcast, it will be interesting to see what kind of content the CD will have.
