The PG 1/60 Unicorn Gundam model was finally released on Saturday, Dec. 13. Pre-orders for the expansion unit, which allows fans to recreate the original Full Armor Unicorn Gundam, also began on Wednesday, Dec.10 on Premium Bandai.
Unicorn Gundam is the mobile suit piloted by the main character, Banagher Links, in Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn. PG 1/60 Unicorn Gundam was announced at the Model Hobby Show in September. Series author Harutoshi Fukui also wrote about it in the form of a report by Gundam character Kai Shiden.
In the series, the Full Armor Unicorn Gundam was devised by Takuya Irei, Banagher’s friend. The novel and OVA differ on the progression of this story. Although Gunpla already sells the Full Armour Unicorn Gundam as a Master Grade 1/100 model, the size and impact of this PG 1/60 model is a whole new experience. The expansion unit was revealed at Gunpla Expo 2014, and has generated quite a buzz since then.
The expansion unit consists of a 21-piece weaponry set, including a Beam Gatling Gun, and a huge number of decals. The decals, created by Katoki Hajime, are unique to the expansion unit and differ from the decals of the Unicorn Gundam model. Fans will surely be pleased with the Full Armor expansion unit for this highly anticipated Gunpla model. It’ll be exciting to see what’s next in line for future PG models.
