Pixiv Festival in Roppongi Hills - A Place to Enjoy Drawing Even More Becomes Real

A large-scale event concepted around the online illustration community Pixiv is coming to Roppongi, Tokyo. For one month from Oct. 25 to Nov. 24, the Pixiv Festival will be held at the Roppongi Hills Viewing Platform at the Tokyo City View Gallery. The Pixiv Festival is a shifting of Pixiv’s idea of being “a place to enjoy drawing even more” into a real, tangible location. In addition to Pixiv introducing lively culture and popular works, there will be digital illustrations on display that are themed after technology and art.

Media arts company Team Lab is also working on many special events as a collaboration project for the festival. Many unique festivities are in store for visitors including a Pixiv Cafeteria, Sketch People, Cure Studio Pixiv Festival Version, and more.

The Pixiv Cafeteria will have original food items that recreate popular works among illustrations submitted to the site. The lineup includes new types of food and drink including “Mofu Mofu Hiyoko Parfait,” “Strawberries on Rice,” and “Rainbow Punch.” The interior decorating of the festival resembles the interior design of Pixiv’s head office, and there will also be an area where attendees can try out pen tablets and analog tools. It’s a cafe at which you can draw on the table, and it squeezes out every last bit of Pixiv-ness.

New this year is Sketch People, a new series in the worldwide popular Sketch Aquarium and Sketch Town events. This is a wondrous world and an extraordinary experience in which your drawings become 3D and come alive.

Cure Studio Pixiv Festival Version is a new Cure Studio event at which attendees can become their favorite characters and fully enjoy creating a video in a virtual space. This time, participants are able to use paint in the space and freely play around. This is the perfect event for the artsy time of fall.
