The huge hit manga Assassination Classroom, to which there are over 10.1 million copies of its individual volumes in print, is becoming a TV anime. This has been big news ever since production was announced. It will begin airing late night every Friday on Fuji TV in January 2015. Fuji TV, which puts out many popular anime including its family shows on Sunday morning and the late night Thursday programming block, noitaminA, is bringing Assassination Classroom to TV screens as a large-scale work.
A special shop celebrating the anime called Korosensei Shop will open on July 19 during the summer event Odaiba New World at Fuji TV. Here, a special visual will be unveiled. This visual is also available in Issue 33 of Weekly Shonen Jump on sale July 14. On the visual are three students from Class-E––Nagisa Shiota, Kaede Kayano, and Karma Akabane––enjoying Odaiba during the summer. The visual will bring excitement to the event and Assassination Classroom. In addition to the visual, there will also be a large balloon of Korosensei at the event. Available at the Krosensei Shop will be goods limited to the event and goods sold in advance. It will also be filled with entertainment, including the “Assassination Game” in which players will challenge themselves to assassinate Korosensei with a machine gun.
Assassination Classroom is a popular manga by Yūsei Matsui that is currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha). Korosensei declares that he will destroy Earth in March of next year, but for some reason until then he is put in charge of a Class 3-E, a class of third year misfits. The students are then tasked with killing Korosensei to save the world, and a back and forth fight against Korosensei unfolds. In addition to the anime, a live-action movie has been greenlit. This is one series to look out for in 2015.
